CLOSING CEREMONY

In this vibrant Closing Ceremony, we bring down the curtain on ten days of spectacular, richly diverse and utterly joyful choral singing with a final flag parade, the World Choir Games anthem, and a passing of the mauri over to the Games’ new hosts.

This is followed by our first full, live rendition of the WCG2024 Official song, ‘Te taukaea tangata – Breathing in, breathing out’ by Don McGlashan and Hana Mereraiha, performed by celebrated New Zealand singers Marlon Williams and Ria Hall, accompanied by the Auckland Philharmonia and backed by the 750-voice Festival Stage Choir.

These two groups then join in an extravaganza of choral-orchestral music that includes a medley of the best official songs from previous Games and another of pop music favourites from right across the globe. A final set comprises iconic songs from every continent, including a famous waiata from Aotearoa. You are warmly invited to sing along!

This is an evening you won’t want to miss – the final act of the largest, most ambitious, most memorable choral event ever in the history of our country.
