Te Taukaea Tangata -

Breathing In, Breathing Out

Within the spirit of this universal harmony, the World Choir Games proudly presents its official anthem, ‘Te taukaea tangata – Breathing in, breathing out’, a melodic embodiment of Aotearoa New Zealand.

‘Te taukaea tangata – Breathing in, breathing out’, the Official Song of the World Choir Games 2024, was composed by distinguished New Zealand songwriter and NZ Music Hall of Fame inductee Don McGlashan and Hana Mereraiha, enriched with lyrics in both te reo Māori and English.

Sung by Marlon Williams and Ria Hall; Te taukaea tangata – Breathing in, breathing out transcends linguistic barriers to resonate with all who hear it. Marlons’ rich baritone voice accompanied with Ria’s soulful vocals solidifies this song as one that will inspire audiences both in New Zealand and around the world. Celebrating the importance of breath, voice, resonance, connection and trust – concepts all familiar to singers – the song also hints at the emergence of a young country and the weaving together of its people. We hope that TTTBIBO will become the heartbeat of the Auckland Games.
